Difference between chip and tuner
Difference between chip and tuner
Guys, I have in my hands a Superchips 1705 MAX Micro Tuner that my friend has taken off his truck. I am interested in using it for my 2000 PSD CC 4WD. Is this a good choice my truck? Its a couple years old. It sounds like the Superchips is a good product, but is the 1705 what I should use?
I have looked in the forum quite a ways back and don't see a definition of the difference between a chip and a tuner. Can someone help me out with that?
Thanks

Chip: plugs into the computer and stays there. You can't change the settings on a chip, only someone who can program them can. Some chips allow you to switch between more than one setting on the fly.
Tuner: plugs into the diagnostic port. You select the settings, with some tuners and depending on the vehicle you can customize the settings they give you. Unplugs from the diagnostic port when you're done. Cannot change settings on the fly.
