What do you guys think would give me the most bang for the buck?
Underdirve Pulleys or SuperChips Microtuner?
I been thinking about it, the micro tuner only gives more hp at the higher RPM range because it raises the rev limit. but, the pulleys have added ponies across the powerband because they free up crank pull.
So, the micro tuner cost alot, 4 Benji's, and the underdrive pulleys are less.
Microtuner says , I think, 8-10 horse increase on 87 tune. Pulleys also say 8-10 horse increase, and the pulleys have everyday driveing power. High RPM power is not everday driving.
Just my thinking.
Any other opinions or facts are much appreciated.
BOTH, The tunner allows you to calibrate for Tire size, rev limiter, towing, gearing changes, change shift points, diagnostic for you vehicle, and takes minuts to use, if you don't like it, you can set your truck back to stock and sell the unit.....the pulleys just give you a few ponies, take alot of work to install. If you want a real fast car buy a corvette, or ford GT, remember these are trucks, infact BIG trucks.
The tuner does not "only give more hp at the higher RPM range." It changes the ignition timing and fuel tables across the entire RPM range and at all throttle positions.
I dont think that I will be changing my gear ratio, and I also dont think that I will be changing tire size.
"It changes the ignition timing and fuel tables across the entire RPM range and at all throttle positions." What does that mean?, it give more pwer across the entire RPM band?
I pretty much know what all the tuner does, but just from reading the opinions and facts, I really want to know if it will be worth it to me to buy it. 400 big ones is alot of money.... I dont think anyone can argue with that.
Basic Engine 101: Advancing timing yields more power (up to to a point), provided you run the proper octane for the timing. More advanced timing requires higher octane. With this change, the air/fuel ratio is also optimized for higher octane. So yes... more power across the entire RPM band.
Well, I bit the bullet today and ordered the Microtuner.
Got it for a great price, with overnight shipping included in the package.
The funny thing is that I called yesterday and they quoted me a price and called again today and they quoted me a price $20 lower. So either somebody goofed today or yesterday, or the price went down $20 overnight. Im not complaining though.
