just thought I would through it out there. back in 99, the 6.0 pulled better than the V10, so it is not like it hasn't been done before.
Besides the 6.0 is only lacking a little hp and torque to the V10 but it is in a lighter package.
What I like about the 6.0L is you can get it in a 1/2 ton. I only wish Ford would jam the V10 in a F-150 or finally come out with the 6.2L "BOSS". ( I think that is what they are calling it now )
This might be a dumb question but is the 6.0L part of Chevy's LS family?
Thats what you were trying to say? Wow, it didnt appear that way to me.
well not exactly but in a nutshell and some of his ideals is what i was trying to get across... anyways i thought it might be in our best interest to stop arguing.. I mean bigf350 is cool and all but if one of the "big" bosses comes down we're toast.. so lets just shake hands and forget it
Someone tell me why Cat would go with Dodge instead of Ford? Wouldn't it make more sense from a business standpoint to go with the company where you would sell the most trucks and make the most money? Cat doesn't want to sell in the light duty truck segment because they would then be liable to the CAFE standards of automakers, and that would limit them on the big engines they could make. If they were going to go light duty, I'm sure they would go with Ford, Dodge has like what, a half a percent of the market?
54% is Ford 26 % is Chevy/Dodge, Cat would have to make alot of engines if they went to a Ford frame/(the best.) but yes they woudl make the most money, they wotn go to dodge. proborly not for either.
I dont know, if it was me making the decision I would rather sign a diesel contract with Dodge over Ford due to Fords sour diesel history. I think they would sell better (not nessisarily more) that now. From a business stand point, the LAST thing Ford and CAT would want is another 6.0 episode. In other words Dodge has nowhere to go but up and Ford could easily lose its strangle hold on the 3/4-1 ton market with any little slip up. I dont think CAT would like those chances.
How would that happen the engines gonna work for the same wether its in Ford/Chevy/Dodge, ford has the best 9'' Rear end, Cat shold be in a ford, Cummin and dodge ends 2012 I think, so ford wanted to make a new diesel but gets sued, by a truck company that isint the besy in the heavy duty duty market jokes, all these diesels break but ford proven strengh

Dude, just quit posting, seriously. I'm not making fun of you, I'm giving you advice. Enjoy the reading or get a translator, seriously.

It's really a silly/moot point.
But heck, might as well give the counterpoint.
IF Cat were to enter the market (and all indications are that they are NOT) Dodge would be the LAST brand to be searching out a new powerplant.
The Cummins/Dodge relationship has been the most successful marriage by far. Cummins enjoys a very loyal folowing, there's even kits to install Cummins powerplants into Ford trucks.
It would make the LEAST sense for Dodge to court a new motor partner.
GM's light trucks have had their ups and downs concerning their diesel history....but the Dmax seems to be a solid motor and GM actually owns it now.
That leaves one truck maker who is scrambling to save face.
So it matters not who Cat would RATHER build a motor for (which is nobody according to all reports) the fact is neither GM or Dodge needs 'em.
Indeed it does... I don't think it would be any stretch of the imagination to say that the majority of the pickup owners in the Heavy Duty market that buy a Dodge, do so purely because of it (and prehaps thier pricing as well).
*thinking out loud*
Do all threads in this forum have to end this way...
No they don't, there is just that one common denominator that always seems to play into taking a perfectly good thread and turning it into...........I will let someone else finish this sentence off.
