I think any safe is ultimately "defeatable". The better built models just take longer to get in and also offer some degree of fire protection. That said, you are protecting your property from all but the most persistant criminals, and it keeps the guns away from kids.
It weighs 325# the door is about 3/8" with 5, 1" pins around it. I bolted it down to the floor. Maby I should have got a bigger one. But I think ( hope ) It'll be enough to keep the average crack head out.
I have a Sentry 14 gun case.
Metal door and such. Its bolted to the wall, and will be bolted to the floor soon
It keeps people from using my guns, stealing them, and keeps dust and such off of them.
I wont say its not stealable because I found a 20 gun safe in the woods one day..
It had been broken into... They cut the top off of it w/ a torch or something.
and dumped it out there.
But it is a good deturant... however you spell that word

Mark, everything we do to secure our property is stacking the odds a little more in our favor. You can't afford to plan for every possible outcome. Keeping them in your safe makes it many times harder for anyone to get at them. Compare it to doing nothing. For most safes weighing over a couple hundred pounds, moving them out of your house is not realistic, especially when they're loaded down with guns and ammo, and/or bolted to the floor. The only way to defeat most of them is to take a torch to them and I don't think many of the small time burglars are sneaking around with a torch in their hands. That said, you spent a little money and made your possessions a LOT more secure.
I heard about some guy who had a gun safe bolted to the floor and wall, yet some nut broke into his house and tied a rope to the safe, out a window across the room, and to the hitch of his truck. He yanked the safe out of the second floor window and actually got away with it. Crazy stuff I tell ya.
Everyone should buy a Sentry safe. Gotta keep the Rochester, NY economy rolling! Sentry's been here a long time, run by good people. Every community needs more businesses like them.
