BW 1345 vs BW1356 in 94 F250

any thoughts on whether one could replace a faulty B+W 13546 with a good BW 1345 and pros and cons of doing so?

The 205 would be the way to go because of the strength but this would all depend on what you plan on doing with the truck. The offset in cost of maybe having to have new drive shafts made maybe not be worth it if the truck is a DD.

I do not know what the differences are between the 1345 and 1356 cases. I recall reading the 1356 has a mag case but I am not sure on that.

I have two 1345 cases and had always thought they were 1356 cases until I learned that they was a 1345 case for the year I had pulled them from.

If the cases are a direct swap I see no reason to use one or the other. That is with the 45 or 56 case. Even more so if you have the one you need and or the price is right.

Thank-you...I'm not sure of the difference in size on the transfer cases.

The 1345 I have has the rear slip yoke, not the fixed one like found on the broncos. I also have a couple of 205 cases. If you want i can snap a few pics with a tape measure showing the difference of the two I have.

The fixed yoke 1345/1356 case will be much closer in overall length to the 205 than the slip yoke style.

yes, any help would be appreciated so I can be as prepared as possible when I take this project on. That would mean that I would have redo the front and rear drive shaft ends?

Lastly, I'm thinking of going to swap out my 1356 in my 89 F250 and replace that one with my 1979 Bronco NP205. That wioll leave a fairly simple matter of swapping the 1356 oujt of my 94 to the former 1989 F250 1356 that I swapped out for the NP 205 back into my 94. What do you think?

So where did the 1345 come into play in all of this? Was it in the 89 and the 94 has the 1356 and if so I take the 94 has a bad case?

I am not so sure about the differences in the 1345 and the 1356. The slip yoke would make a lot of sence, but the replacement parts (part #'s) are different, and I have looked at other posts that say the 1346 has a magnesium case vs. aluminum, and that the 1356 is stronger. How much stronger, I have no idea?!? I wish I had 2 side by side to verify. The NP-205 is a great bulitproof case, but I see a couple downfalls, that the gear ratio is not as good, they are not shift on the fly, and I think the max 4x4 speed is a lot slower, like RTM said, depends on what you want to use it for.

I have an extra 1345 out of a 1986 F250. I was thin king of replacing the bad 1356 in my 94 F250 with that 1345. I thought I would have problems with the driveshafts if did that unmless I misundersatood wqhat your were saying. I am upgrading my 89 F250 as we speak to a solid dANA 60 VS THE STOCK DAND 50 AND FOIR THAT REASON WAS THINKING OF ALSO DOING THE np 205 SWAP WHILE i WAS AT IT.
