I recently sold my Audi A6 - I had A LOT OF FUN WITH THAT CAR - the girls liked it too! I really loved it!
However, though the normal maintenance issues never cost more than I expected (I have a great german auto mechanic) once the tranny issues crept up (at 130k and then again at 160k) I was really fed up and got rid of it. I can hope and pray that you aren't cursed with the transmission issues that I was. The thing with the Audi's is they run fabulous, but the tranny's are inherently touchy when you get over 100k, and they require alot of time and shipping computers etc back and forth.
On the opposite side I have F350 and F150 trucks, the latter with over 340k miles on it, and trans are great....

I had a 2001 A6 it was a great car the only issue was a blown rear brake line which was prolly due to me hammering on it.. Quattro is an amazing thing I used to tell people the Audi doesn't just "go" in the snow it handles in the snow...I live in upstate NY so we see a lot of it..
IMO Audi was just turning the corner back when I had my A6 they were still having issues for sure..The current stuff is pretty tight they have come a long way...The S4 is just an incredible car and quite the sleeper..
I've had 3 F150's (2 were new) all were rock solid with the 5.4L I just always liked the SD and want one !
I came across this thread looking for recommendations on spark plugs for my V-10. It's a 2002 F350 CC LB Manual Trans. It has 175,000 miles on it and has never had anything under the hood replaced except the oil, air & oil filter and the battery. I did recently replace the bed with a 2013 takeoff and expect the truck to last another 200,000+ miles. I had my ZX2 tuned up at the dealer and they charged me $10 each for the Motorcraft spark plugs. Fortunately it was only a 4 cylinder. I told them I would provide the plugs for the V-10.

2002 F250 4x4 with V10. I bought this truck new and now have 217000 miles on it. The only engine parts I have changed on the engine are new coils and plugs. By far the best truck and engine I have owned.
I have read lots of reviews from guys with V-10s that have over 300,000 without being rebuilt. One where a guy had almost 700,000 on his super duty V-10. I work for a Municipal Fire Department in western Montana. We have 5 staffed stations and we have our wild land brush trucks built on the Super Duty F-550 chassis with the V-10 power plant. These trucks carry 500 gallons of water and weigh in at well over 20,000 lbs. We run them in very harsh conditions, rolling out of the station after a cold start with lights and sirens, and they are bomb proof. I like them so much that I drive a Super Duty V-10 as my daily driver.
My 01 V-10 has 185,000 miles. I've changed plugs twice and plug boots with the second set of plugs, to chase away a slight tremor in the off-idle transition. A couple of the spring cores were not seated on the high voltage coil terminal. I cleaned the IAC at about 100K. That's it.
Had I seen Snapper's post about holding the accelerator to keep it running in 2009, I would have suggested checking the IAC. It can contribute to that problem, especially if the truck won't idle.
I am not sure of the life of the engine, but I have recently learned the life expectancy of the heater core..... I have a 1999 Ford F-350 XLT long bed with 148K miles on it, western US. Upon purchasing the truck, I found the heater was blowing cold or luke warm air. I changed the blend door actuator motor, the thermostat, and finally the heater core. The heater core was plugged. I have info on how to do it if anyone needs the guidance.
I am looking for any advice on my truck. I own a Ford 99 V10 that has and oil leak along the passenger side rear of the engine. Mechanic is not sure if it is the head gasket cover or the cylinder heads themselves. Dye has been put into the motor to track it, and awaiting results.... Anyone have a similar problem? I put lucas oil stop leak in as I have found a trust for Lucas products, but not sure if the problem is a gasket issue or worse....... shoot a post.

My '99' 5.4 had that leak and it was the valve cover gasket and was a know problem for that year, I don't recall the V10 having it but I'll bet that's what your issue is.

My f250 is pushing 290k, and my Ex is at 177k.. Have had them since new, and couldn't have asked for better reliability and solid vehicles.. Best purchases made
