Hello everyone, I'm a new user and have found this site to be amazing. I have been looking at some of the other threads relative to strange noises but haven't found one similar to the noise I'm getting so I thought I would post it.
Everytime I start my 2004 F-250 CC Lariat I get a clunk in the front passenger side. Sounds almost identical to a locking hub. It happens about 30 seconds after starting and regardless of whether I'm at idle or pulling out of the parking spot.
Anybody experience something similar. I'm not too worried but certainly woud hate to let something go that would cause more problems.
On a side note, anyone know how to disable the panic button on the remote (it's gone off twice on me accidentally and I can't stand it. I don't really expect to ever need it)
Thanks for the help, its definitely a good start. I'll leave it set on max a/c tomorrow and see what happens. Seems a little too loud for that, but certainly makes sense.
Crusin, that's probably your A/C compressor. What position do you have your HVAC controls at when it does it (A/C, defrost, face, bi-level)?? Mine does it every 15 to 20 seconds with an audible click, and I can barely feel it through the pedals & floorboard. Ford says it's OK to cycle like that. I've got 45k and I haven't had a failure, yet.
Fordman, I know the thud you are talking about, it sounds like the thud you get when somthing hits the floor on the underside. My 02 SC 250 does the same thing, but it does not do it all the time, only does it somtimes when you first start the truck, I have been trying to figure it out for a while now. Let us know if you find anything out.
Mine does it after starting, warm and cold, does it every 20 seconds while idleing, the exact clunk being described. I've got it at heat, low fan, bi-level. Definatly not a click, sounds like someone kicking the floorboard.
I have the exact same noise but I also had the noise in my 98 chevy. I think that A/C blend door idea is probably it. I think my thud only started again after using the A/C for the first time this spring.
