powertrax traction control

Hey there. I am just looking for some opinions on powertrax lockers if anyone's ever installed one in a 95 Mazda B3000 with a 7.5" diff. I am thinking of installing one in my truck to increase traction for winter driving. Those open diffs are horrible. I read all there is to read on them on the net and am wondering if anyone who has one is having good results.

I suppose it doesn't matter what kind of truck you have just as long as the locker is working fine.

Thanks

Guy

Question

I'm still running the original 7.5 open in my 97. Don't like it in snow but it isn't broken yet. I'm just curious about which vendor you've chosen & warranty etc., etc.

I've got a 99' Ranger Sport 2x, V6 w/Auto, it's lifted with 31's. I have the 7.5" rear diff and when I re-geared to .410's for the larger tires I had a powertrax lock-right installed. I absolutely love it. It's a little "rugged", when it disengages and then re-engages it kind of bangs, like a hard shift. It's loud, it's ruff, but tuff as hell and I like it more for that and the increased traction than anything. When it's wet, you realy have to be carefull when cornering, but you learn how it acts and re-acts and the biggest thing I have learned is if you are going to over power it, do not over correct - point to the direction you want it to go and it will eventualy go that way....kind of. It made my hole "driving experience" in the rain much more intresting....but on a straight line your traction on take-offs is much better.

Dealford, I am not sure what the warranty is but i would install it myself. Powertrax has a supplier in the 905 area code. Once I am ready to buy I will probably call richmond gear's 1-800 number to get the local supplier's number and order it through them. This will definately be before next winter.
