Air filter

Got a '02 psd and did the oil change, went to blow out the air filter and boy is it dirty. Also feels like it has oil on it or oil contamination. What filters are recommended and the cheapest place to get them...I need before I go on my trip Sat.

Thanks...

Air filter

I bought mine from Ford at first and got ripped!! (between 20-30 bucks)
Found out International trucks sold them (paid 11.00) If my memory is serving me today!(Fleetguard filter)
Found a site on the internet that sold them for 9.95 ec.
Fleetguard also.
motorcraft and Fleetguard are the same filter just a different box.
The Internet site was FordDiesel.com, there name has changed tho and
so I cannot help with there new name untill I receive there next new letter.

over and out

If you want, you can buy yourself a reusable air filter lke K&N or AFE. They are pricey at first, but at least u can clean them up and reuse them after they are recharged.

I would not recommend K&N or any other similar type of filter. Most of these filters let more contaminants into your engine than stock. Do a search for Tymar. They make what I consider to be the best setup for our trucks. They make use of a huge Donaldson filter that filters at 99.9% efficiency as opposed to K&N's 97%.

That's "Tymar" not ymar.

Question bout the Tymar. From what I have seen, that big ole filter just sits under the hood where the stock airbox was (more or less). The stock box sucks air (arguably colder) from the outside. The Tymar appears to suck air from under the hood. Warmer air. The colder air is denser and you will get more oxygen per unit volume than warmer less dense air. In theory this should affect performance. Does it?

That's "Tymar", not tmar or ymar. There have been numerous tests done about sucking in air from under the hood.
