This truck is a four door crew cab, two wheel drive, had a V8 engine with a manual transmission, it now has the C6 transmission and 429 c.i. I was wondering about the F250 and the long bed also, wanted to know what, when and where this truck came from, color, engine, tranny and such.
Hey Steve, Got my problem squared away. Instead of addressing customersaskford.com, I clicked on the live link you posted here on 22 April. What a difference that made. I put my VIN info in that new screen and it would appear I will be getting my data sheet in a few weeks. I'm not only learning about old Ford trucks but a little about computers as well. Will it ever stop? No!
F25- F250 2WD
Y- 360 V8
L- Michigan assembly
C99559- scheduled production date Mar 68. You can pin the build date
down a little closer by check-
ing date codes on the upper
seat back tag and date codes
cast and stamped into var-
ious engine ( cyl block has
date cast above starter)
and sheet metal parts.
M- Color-Wimbledon White
F253- 6100 GVW
81- Conventional cab
38- Axle-3.73 Dana 60
G- Auto trans C6
56492- Looks like it should be the DSO code but I couldn't find a
sales district numbered 56. Check your door tag to see
if these numbers match.
The 04-01-68 may have been the purchase date and the 04-01-70
was probably the date the warranty ran out.
This was a HUGE help. I've tried every source known to man to try to figure the vin on this thing. Now..............all I need is an original radio for this truck and this year and it will 100% complete. Any suggestions??
Scott, yours translates to an F250, 390 V8 built in San Jose sometime in May 1970. There's other codes on the door tag for trans, axle, color, sales district, etc.
