I thought I did. This is a 72 Ford F250 Pick-up. This forum is for my truck, i thought. Mil1ion, i hope that this is correct. Please reply. Does the vin # show this not being a 72? thanks so much.
(confused) David
David, at first you said 70, now it's a 72? No matter. The format of the serial numbers for these trucks would be something like this example:
-F25YCN18000-
The number you gave us is from something far newer and maybe even GM to boot. ( going by the first two digits-1= US built G= company: General
Motors. The eight digit is the year code letter and I think W is for 99)
Thanks Mike, I will double check the Vin #. So sorry for any trouble I have caused. Really like to read all of these threads. You have helped me out so much in getting this truck running. May I double check the Vin and re-post #? Again thanks for everything,
Even us old Navy retired guys can finally get it right (lol). The right number is F25YRM82658. I had to count this twice to make sure it add's up to 11. Thanks so much for patience.
EDIT:
i went to the above web site and it was nteresting but it did tell me trans type or rear axle type. Here is the info on the door plate. can anyone make heads or tails out of it.
131 M2 F253 E 4 6 38
08100 151 4000 71
Thanks, dave
Y =Engine =360
6 = Transmission should be a G ( not a 6) = Automatic = C4
Uhmmm, yeah. I'm pretty sure that someone at the plant was smokin' something when they did some of the VIN's.
seabee, if you have an A/T in your truck, it'll be a C6. Although the code says that it's a C4.
I've found that decifering codes on some of these trucks will help you go bald, from pulling your hair out
