Howdy, You guys sill decoding VIN's? I could use your help. Chilton's says i have a 360, the seller told me it had a 390, and the original owner's manual says it's got a 352. What is it? F10YKA47324??
Thanks
P.S. it's a 1967!

Reason: forgot to add year of vehicle
Hey boomer202, I've had the truck less than 3 weeks and after repeated trips to the parts house for the same part I have a head ache and little hair left, but noone else has been injured!*! Ahwell I love the old truck and as much trouble as she seems now, she'll be worth my effort. Since posting my request I read some where else that '67 was the only year that Y was used for a 352ci. I looked for the metal tag supposed to be under the distributor bolt which identifies the engine and guess what, it ain't there. I'm going this afternoon to buy a parts truck '68 for my first truck the '67, I been bit! Later.
You're right regarding the fact the Y code was used for the 352 in 67. You might want to check out Thom's 67 site, '67fordtruck.com'. A wealth of info for your truck.
go to this website, put your VIN number in there and ask them to provide you with all your data plate information...takes about 3-6 weeks to get it, but it's something nice to go with the truck and it's free from FORD.
Steve
Thanks Steve, I'm not exactly doing a body-off, wheels-up restoration or at least it did't start out that way. The data information is exactly what I have wondered about and figured it would all come in time. I'll check it out right away, and thanks for that time saver.
Hey Steve, Made it to 'customersaskford.com' but something went wrong. Their telling me they only do data information on 1996 to 2003 models.?! They also said to try the dealership, which I considered bizarre. So far when I have talk to the dealership they have told me they don't have any info going back 'that' far. Any other suggestions?
Will the above vin coder work for a 1967 F250 Crew Cab Truck, if not does anyone have one that will. I bought this truck a couple of weeks ago, it has a 429 ci engine with a C6 A/T, it is also has the 8' bed, I thought only the the F350's came with a long bed. The Vin. # is F25YCB43834 Model: 1967 Ford Pick-up Size: 48
SUB360... not sure what happened with that. They squared me away with a nice print out that decodes my VIN and my data plate. Plus it's on a FORD Motor Company letterhead. Things that make you go HMMMM....
I decoded your stuff... hopefully I'm right. Here it is
F26= F250 4WD
Y= 360cid V8
C= Made in Ontario, Canada
K09647= consecutive build number, made in September 1970
149= wheel basse
G= color Chrome yellow (cool color by the way)
F260= 4WD with 6800 GVW
4= Styleside Pickup
4= I do not know this one
A= New Process 435 transmission
24= rear 4.10 gears Dana 60
K= front Dana 44
Steve, this truck is a two wheel drive four door crew cab with an 8' bed, so I'm confused, lol. I did email Ford with the plate information to see what they have to say. I'm curious how your decoder broke down the Code, is the F25, first part of Vin, the code for 2wd or 4wd? I appreciate the fast response, I'm in the process to get the truck up into a gallery.
F25= F250 4WD
Y= 352 cid V8
C= made in Ontario, Canada
B43834= consecutive build number made in June 1967
It has been discussed in previous threads that the consecutive build numbers are projected only, as the Ford Motor Company published the books before the trucks rolled off the assembly line. I know in my 1969 F100, it is decoded as being made in June 1969, but my paperwork I got from Ford states it was actually made on 24 march 1969. So, close enough I reckon. That 429 definitely was added though.
Steve, appreciate the infor, I wish it was a four wheel drive, It will be interesting to see what ford has to say. I also registered the truck with http://67fordtruck.com/Scrapbook.html He told me that there may be a TSL, sheet, apperently additional information was put into the seat.
