Not that I have seen. I have seen a couple or race car enthusiast's web forums about it. Several guys had it on their cars for up to 7 mo so far and it still beads up the water.
Guru Reports did an "independent test" on 46 polishes and waxes a while back. Initially their view of Zaino was not too great, possibly due to the way they used it. Then after the test they had great things to say about it. I have never looked at their wax test, as they want 10 bucks for it, and frankly I don't care that much about one person's opinion on wax especially when they want $10 for it
I do use Zaino though. I have been using it for three years on my Mustang and I am quite pleased with the results. I will use it on my truck when it comes in. I had not polished the car in nearly 6 months until yesterday and it still beaded like mad, if that means anything It sits out in the weather most of the time, so that impressed me. The shine Zaino gives is kinda hard to describe. To me, it doesn't look anything like other polishes after they are applied. It kinda glows.
Zaino, to the new user, will seem like a royal pain to use initally. There are several steps that seem to take forever. My first time using it, the stuff was still wet 14 hours later Once you get the hang of it, it is easier to use than most. The initial cost is a big factor, but considering I am still on the same bottles of Z1, Z2 and Z5 that I started with three years ago, cost isn't that high. The key is light coats. If you see much of it when you put it on, you used too much.
OK went out to the truck this morning to use the rest of the bottle up and see how the wax looks after 48 hours. Nice shine and some bird crap compliments of the local wildlife. It was dried from baking in the sun but wiped right off with a dry towel. Even some of the red tree sap that fell on the truck and that wiped right off also.
I then reapplied the rest of the bottle to use it up. I only had enough to do the leading edges and sides. On a side note the directions say to just wash the vehicle regularly (they suggest weekly but I will probably go monthly) and not to use any other waxes on top of it until the wax wears off.
I recently bought the new Turtlewax Ultra Gloss liquid wax, with carnauba wax in it. Man, I like it. Its been on about a month now, and looks and feels great. I think it may be more pricey than the Meguirre's or Mothers, but all I can say is, give it a try.
I have a friend who uses ZANO on 2 of his corvetts, and this is a popular polish with the vet owners. He uses it on his new 04' F-150 and man it look really good. It is a lil expense but i would say well worth the money. Just my opinion...
Hey there buddy,,,,,,,,,how'd ya get by on this question without a reprimand from ol' MAYPO about your proverbial can o' worms question and a point in the right direction to FAQ's. Must be parking your Hummer in the right garage..
I used NuFinish for many years with great success! But I tried the Meguire's Gold Class and could not believe the gloss it provided on my dark green paint! It looked wet. Yes, it is a little work to remove, but found that constant changing to a clean side of the towel makes it much easier. I am interested in the new Meguire's NXT ya'll have mentioned. If it gives off the same gloss as the Gold and is easier to use/remove, that will be my pick.
I use Farclea G10 with a rotary buffer. Add a bit of water at the end of the buffing process to bring the gloss out. I do it 2 or 3 times a year (as required). I seldom use a wax.
It's kinda expensive, cause it comes from England, and it's hard to get over the counter here.
Well after 1 month my Truck does not have that glossy shine anymore and collects dust like crazy. Although I am not sure if the dust is because it is only used on weekends so sits during the week. Water still beads up though. I may try the lubricant they sent me with the 5-star shine to get the gloss back. I will let everyone know this weekend.
On a side not the wax was so slippery that when I used the touchfree car wash it blew the magnet ribbons right off the truck.
I still don't know how a wax like 5-Star that uses Teflon(which is a solid), can feed and protect your finish. Anyone else use this stuff? Any comments about putting Teflon on your paint?
I will stick with Polymers. NuFinish was the first Polymer wax.
I used Meguire's NXT new polymer and it still has a deap dark shine and beads like crazy. My hand still slips off the paint.
Well after a good rain and wipe down the truck has a slick finish again. I applied Nu finish to the wife's care at the same time and it is not faring as well. The water still beads up but does not feel as smoth even after a car wash (without any waxes in the wash).
Nu Finish is a old Polymer tecnology. That stuff has been around a while. There are alot better Polymer products then that.
You're quite right! Meguire's NXT is just one of them. I just bought some tofay and waxed the X. And OHHHHHHHHHHHHH MAN! The X shined like Christmas! When I finished and had a good look at it......it was just like the day I bought it; I couldn't stop looking and smiling! I'm putting another coat on tomorrow. This is some good stuff, but only time will tell!
