New Finish. Apply it every six months even though it says "Once a year". I apply two coats to the hood and roof. Shines like crazy. My truck is outdoors 24/7 and it keeps it beeding water very well for atleast six months minimum.
a good wax job just depends on how much time you want to spend on it and what produsts you use to wash your truck. all spring, summer and fall when i can hand wash i use johnson and johnson no tears baby shampoo. i use it to wash my truck after a was job because it does not contain acid. they use a certain acid in hair shampoo and some car washes to help get the greese and dirt off. when you was with taht it eats away at your wax job. the baby shampoo helps to make it last a little longer. in the warmer months i could wax my truck every couple weeks and i use mequiers gold class. its is durable and has a great deep and reflective shine.
I've heard good things about the Mequiar's NXT and the Zaino brands. They are both synthetic polymers and are suppose to outlast the reqular waxes. Being in the great white north , I can't get the NXT and just found a place that will ship Zaino's (so I can't say how they really work). I currently use Mequiars deep crystal three step (it works good by hand, but three times better when using a porter cable 7424 polisher).
i have always used Zymol. if i have the time, enegery. and beer, i'll do a coat of the cheesy colored wax first, then the zymol. then come back later and do another coat.
my problem isnt the wax... its the water spots. i lived in mississippi for the most of my life, so i didnt have to worry too much about hard water spots now i have to dry my truck every time, then touch it up with some spray detail if i miss some water and it spots.
Nu Finish, beats every other car polish hands down for ease of application, shine , and longevity. Clay and polish it every six months and your truck will look good the year around.
p.s. Don't use wax, it starts to oxidize immediately after application. No one who builds and shows cars waxes them for exactly that reason.

A buddy turned me on to a wax called Collinite 845 Insulator Wax. By far the best lasting wax I have used. Its a semi paste, non cleaner wax. Goes on and buffs off easy. Thats important when waxing the SuperDuty Supercab in Dark Red.
While I recently bought a new 2004, my old black 2000 with 120000+ miles could still turn heads going down the road. I probably averaged washing it, drying, and applying liquid glass about every 4 to 5 weeks. Over the years I have tried different waxes and polishes, but I have always come back to the Liquid Glass. Goes on easy and comes off easy....even if you are in some direct sunlight.
I like the maguires gold class but it requires alot of elbow grease
I use Meguiars Gold Class myself. It does take ALOT of elbow grease, but it you do it right, it's worth it! Althought I think I'll give Liquid Glass a try.
