i made some drawings at school the other day and wondered what u guys thought of them. I couldnt figure out how to link them here but they are in my gallery so you can see them that way. they are pretty much a remake of sky manufacturing's but will be all welded together not bent becvause i dont have the machinery to do so
it looks good. it is the same thing as Sky's kit. just make sure that the welds are good and strong and you use hefty thick plate like 3/8's or so. I think if it were me i would lengthen the support braces to go all the way up to the edge or close to the edge of the base plate. you can never be too strong

EDIT: here they are...

Can you break that drawing up piece by piece or give any dimensions? I used to work on ships and know a guy that can make them if he had the specs. Not looking to make any mony here, just dont want to spend 100 bucks for the brackets.....but if I cant find any good shackles in the scrapyard here in the next week or 3 I will have to resort to sky's brackets.....a bunch of the guys and I have a 4 wheelin weekend next month and before we go I hafta get rid of that block in the rear......
im not totally sure on the dimensions i just had a spare f150 hanger layin around and some pics from http://www.superford.org/registry/ve...il.php?id=3595. im wating for our school to get a plasma cam so i can cut them out but who knows how long that ill be so here you go.
the holes are all 1/2 i figured i would drill out one rivit hole 1/2 then bolt the hanger in place with it and drill the other 3 using the hanger as a guide. the back plate is 3/8 and the rest is 1/4 inch thick if you change the thick ness make sure you change the dimensions to match. the inside of the hanger must be 2" from the frame and the hanger is 3" wide.
No, I was hoping maybe for something a little more detailed and precise. That's awesome Fordman! You've got a helluva skill there. I figure if you can save $100 on brackets you can spend it on gas or beer.
nice job with the autodesk, thats what it is right? im tryin to teach myself that, i get it free on the colleges computers, made some new bumpers for my truck so far
The 3d pics are from inventor which is much easier to use in 3d form but the others are auto cad both are made by autodesk and are both very $$$expensive$$$ about $5g's for inventor and $3500 for auto cad i only get to use it at school too because if i had $8g's to spend id have a d60 front and 10.25 FF rear with 5.13's and arbs running 44 swampers.
