I wanted to take my windshield wiper arms off to paint them. Ive covered everything in newspaper before and sanded them and painted them but that didnt last long so i want to take them off and sand blast them and put a few good coats of paint on. Does anyone know how to get them off without any special tools?
1. Raise windshield wiper blade (17528) end off windshield and slide latch away from windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft.
2. Unlock windshield wiper pivot arm from windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft.
3. Remove windshield wiper pivot arm. Windshield wiper pivot arms can be removed and installed without the aid of any tools.
For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. If windshield wiper blade does not touch windshield, then slide latch is not completely in place.
The latch they are referring to is on the wiper arm itself. Once you lift the pivot arm you will see what they are talking about.

Are you referring to the little latch that slides uo underneath the arm that will hold it off the windshield?
Take a close look at the wiper arm itself. Where it attaches to the drive mechanism is a small latch. Lift up on the arm, then pull on the latch, let loose of the arm, it will rest against that small latch arm once it is pulled out. Once that is complete, pull up on the entire assembly, it will come off the pivot point.

Thanks that should do it. Ive always used that latch to hold the wipers off the glass when im washing my truck or cleaning the windows i never knew it was for removing it.
