Need help with Carter YF -- choke bracket from junked carb??

OK, I found a nice Carter YF with a manual choke. I am told for fuel efficiency, this is about the best carb, at least if I do not want to swap manifolds etc.etc.

Anyhow, I currently have a stock 1101 Autolite. The accellerator will hook up fine to the YF in my 65 240, but there is some sort of choke bracket or linkage that screws to the drivers side of the carb body. The bracket from my 1101 Autolite doesn't fit or help.

Does anyone of you fellas who upgraded to a two or four barrel maybe have an old junked manual YF with the necessary choke bracket? Maybe just a picture for me, so I can try to replicate it? I'd take the whole carb off your hands, if that is preferrable. I would pay whatever is fair.

Also, anyone know of a good book/manual for Carter YF? I'd really like to get this set correctly. I know this forum is more interested in performance, but I drive my 65 for fun and I'd like to get the best mileage possible. Guess its just my thing.

Thanks

For a carb that came on tons of 300's, not much input huh?

Doesn't somebody know where I can get that stupid little bracket that holds the manual choke cable? Doesn't someone have a junked YF that they swapped to a 2barrel or 4 barrel? I have one source from a carb shop for a whole carb, and he want $100. That's rediculous for a little bracket.

Thanks

I just finished rebuilding my YF carb. - it has an automatic choke on it, however. I'll check tonight to see if it has any pictures of a manual choke bracket.

Unhappy only auto choke

It turns out that all 4 of my diagrams for the Carter YF have the automatic choke pictured. Sorry I can't give you a picture of the manual bracket.

Thanks anyhow, JD -- I have a picture now. But I am just opposed to paying $100 for the darned bracket!! My 1101 works for now, so I am going to lurk on eBay till someone puts a whole carb up there with the bracket and then buy it!!

Are you getitng decent mileage out of the Carter's? My original 1101 Autolite still runs pretty good, but it sucks gas like a fiend.

later..

I don't know about the gas mileage yet - I bought the truck last summer and it has been in my garage since November because it started sprouting flames from the hole in the muffler. I rebuilt the carb and it is running much better. From looking at the spark plugs, part of my problem was that the fuel mixture was too rich - I am going to do some adjustment this weekend.
