I have aquired a Carter YF without the factory I.D. tag. The upper body is stamped YF4901S and it has the climatic choke [non electric]. The mounting holes are the older pattern [closer together] and have not been elongated.
Does someone know what the original application for this carburetor was? I know it was for a six cylinder, but what year and weight class?
choke heated from a tube in the manifold? is the dashpot mechanical or electric?
(I dont think you can tell weight class from the carb on the I6) BUT, the carter was NOT limited to the Ford engine! It was ANYWHERE that an I4 or 6 was used. (chevy, ford, amc, nash all come to mind)
wrong button....
anyways, the 4901 does have an xref to the 1970 van with the 240 I6
No sir, no "Autolite", just Carter YF and "Made in USA". It has one vacuum port, one hot idle screw and no fast idle adjustment other than adjusting the choke [lean vs rich].
