I have a 98 Explorer and the window washer quit working. I have replaced the washer motor and it still does not work. Since we bought the 98 used it did not come with a owners manual. Any help on fuse location or any other fix would be a big help. Or my wife will start to drive my 96 F-350 crew cab. Thank you
the fuse box is on the left side of the dash. When you open the drivers door you will see a panel that just pulls away. You didnt specify yout engine/trim level-I dont know if the specific fuse location # would differ. Also in the engine compartment there is a fuse box on the drivers side located close to the firewall. Im at work i can look in my manual later let me know the trim level and engine
Thank you nhfire77. This is the first time that I have ever been on a site like this. It's very good. I hope that I am also replying correctly. The engine is a 4.0 SOHC and its trim is XLT. I have found both of the fuse locations but there is no labeling inside the covers to say what fuse is what. I have checked around our town for a used guide and could not find one but I will keep looking.
Again, thank you.
Checked my manual for '97 EB. Shows fuse number 12 (10 amp) controls front washer as well as rear wiper and washer. If they're not numbered on your box, #12 is third row down, last fuse on right in fuse panel. If rear still works, Haynes manual shows power from fusebox goes into "auxiliary relay box #2" containing the front washer pump relay then to the pump motor. I don't know where this relay box is at, though.
Good luck.
Thanks Fr8hauler. It's a great starting point. Rear wiper still work's so it must be the relay. I'm thinking that the box #2 is under the hood. I'll try a meter on them if I can.
I had the same problem with my 99 when the washer bottle froze. It was a 7 amp fuse that I replaced but I don't remember the location off the top of my head.... when mine blew, I still had the rear wiper, just no washer. Check that one out and let us know what you find.
I want to thank everybody for their help with the window washer problem. It was a blown fuse. #12 in the fuse box on the side of the dash. I replaced the fuse and all is working. What a great site to visit.
