Winshield Washer Doesn't work
I have a 98 Explorer EB Edition. My washer for the front and back windows don't work. I have tried a couple suggested on these boards. Replaced the multi-function switch, replace the relays in the Aux. Module. My fuses are good. I also cleaned out the Aux Module. I discovered that I am not getting any power to the washer pump in the washer reserviour. I just can't find where the power loss is. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Rudy
The GEM controls the relays for the washer motors.
If yours is the same as a 97 the main power supply for the GEM is interior fuse 25.
Look at the fuse list in your owners manual, does it show interior fuse 25/instrument cluster, GEM?
If this was mine, i'd yank that fuse & leave it out for a minute, then plug it back in & see if the washers work.
The 98 explorer's GEM doesn't control the washer pump. There is an Aux 2 for the relays for the washer. I looked it up in my Haynes book, and it list the items the GEM controls. I might be wrong, can somebody confirm this? And and other suggestions what it might be. Could I have a bad Aux Module that holds the relays?
Thanks!
Rudy
