It may not be set up for a canister purge valve. My '87 5.0 doesn't have one.

There isn't a port open anywhere on the trottle body in that location. Thanks again for your help. Jim

new problem

Guys, Thanks for your help with the code 32. I'm still having a problem with a miss when I put a load on the truck. I started with the codes thinking that could be the problem. Has any one had issues with a distributer. If I retard my timing to about 15btc it's not as bad, if I advance my time to 5btc it's bad. The truck will actually start bucking and jerking at around 30mph. The only thing I haven't replaced on the motor is the dist. The miss is more noticable when the engine is warm. Does this sound like a reasonable coarse of action???

Jim

15 BTDC is MORE advanced than 5 BTDC. Maybe you're thinking about ATDC (after TDC)? I had a dizzy with an upper bushing that was so worn that the rotor impacted the towers inside the cap. Try unhooking the pipe from the bottom of the EGR valve, put a dime in there, and then reassemble. If the problem goes away, then it's an EGR issue. I had similar driveability problems but without codes and I solved it by blocking the EGR valve.

Well, I changed my spark plugs and played with my timing. The plugs look good and my time was at 10BTDC. So I played around with the time alittle. the truck ran best (no missing or jumping around 20 - 25 BTDC. Am I a tooth off or is my distributer having problems? I found a pretty reptubal ford machanic about 45 mins away that knows his stuff. i was thinking of taking it to him. I'm out of ideas....

Lightbulb Code 32

This may be a silly question after all the other suggestions, but did you remove the Spout connector when you checked the timing?? I know on my '90 5-spd that is what I have to do. Don't know about on automatics?

yep! With the spout connected the timing hovers around 20BTDC.

code 32 and new parts

I've just had a similar experience and discovered (using Ford Fuel Injection test) that a NEW aftermarket EGR is not compatible with a NEW Ford EVP: with the EGR closed, the voltage was not within tolerances.
