Superchips Powerstroke Microtuner Now Includes OBD II Diagnostic Code Reader
The popular Superchips Microtuner for Powerstroke Diesels has been enhanced to include an OBD II Diagnostic Code Reader. It can read (and clear) codes in all Ford family vehicles with an OBD II connector. The price is unchanged!
And no, you cannot exchange an older 1700 for a newer 1705. Just as with computers, newer models get introduced at similar or lower prices and computer companies don't offer to exchange to newer models --- that's the nature of consumer electronics.

Hello Ken. Just wondering what you and people you know think about putting the Superchip in the 7.3 Diesel? Does it do any harm to the motor or transmission? I would appreciate your thoughts on the item. Thanks, Craig in Austin,TX.

Not when used properly. People who use hot programs to tow heavy loads without taking proper precautions cause their own problems. If you tow with a tow program (54HP Diablo or 60HP Superchips) this isn't an issue and you'll have no problems. Any responsible dealer will tell you not to use a non-tow program for towing (we have this information in our product catalog as well) unless you install a a) downpipe, b) a downpipe and exhaust, or a b) downpipe, exhaust and egt. Which option, a, b, or c, depends on your load and driving conditions.

Ken, how would the Mocrotuner work on my 96 PSD, manual tranny, 140K miles. Would the fuel mileage be enhanced as well as power? And is this too many miles to consider this upgrade?

It would work well. We've chipped and tuned everything thing from 1000 mile trucks to 200,000+ mile trucks without a hitch. In over 95% of all cases, mileage is increased.

Hypertech makes a good product with good performance. Its drawback compared to the Superchips is only has one setting: 50HP with 108 ft/lbs torque. The Superchips is 60HP & 115 ft/lbs and 80HP & 135 ft/lbs in one unuit. Also, the Hypertech is year specific. You can't take your current Hypertech and use it on a newer model. It also does not include a diagnostic code reader. I bet your Ford dealer charges full retail for it too! Ouch!!! :-) We looked at carrying the Hypertech line, one of the warehouses we work with supplies them and Hypertech does make good products..... but they just didn't measure up to the offerings Diablo and Superchips have.

Ken,
After lurking on the forums for about a month, I finally placed a web order for a tuner and an AFE kit for my 2002 F-250 Powerstroke. Any way you can expedite shipment as I am going on a trip with my 27' fifth wheel next weekend? Sure hope so. Let me know...
My compliments to you and the others that share info here. This is one great place for a newbie to get educated. Thanks a bunch!
