Restoring it to stock leaves no codes. There is no way to tell its been programmed. Having said that, it's illegal to void the warranty because of installation of an after-market product... though some dealers seem to ignore this fact.

Wow - Tuner came in todays mail - installed in less than 10 min - may have spun the tires out of my driveway....Since I plan to be towing 12000 lbs next month, I installed the tow safe settings. Any recommendations on leaving it at this or switching to Hi-Perf as long as I bring back down when towing?

There are no limits to the number of times you can switch back and forth between programs, other than physically wearing out the connector! You'll be fine running it in the high setting unloaded until then if you just want to have some fun --- just do it with safety in mind :-)

Ken, I hope this is not too far off topic...but, I want to be able to run the 80 hp setting with confidence. Soooo, I want to upgrade my exhaust. I know that the factory exhaust on my'02 is 3.5". I know that the down pipe needs to be changed, but why go to a 3.5" downpipe from the aftermarket, when stock is 3.5"? I noticed you sell a 4" downpipe and entire exhaust. Can I change JUST the downpipe, or do I need to upgrade to a larger exhaust. I know Superchip recommends upgrading the downpipe, but are really vague on the size and the rest of the exhaust. Please let me know YOUR opinion on this.

Ken,
Finally got my gauges installed last week, installed the offroad program to see how it did. Drove around a little seemed to be pretty good, this morning went to drive it and when you started to accelerate it was like you were putting the brakes on. Checked the lines to the boost gauge in case there was a vacuum leak all seemed good, still having the problem. Hooked up the tuner and installed the standard program and the problem seems to have gone away.
Have you heard of anything like this with the off-road program? Any thoughts?

I know SuperChip can reprogram "other" chips. Can they reprogram Western Diesel chips? I have an opportunity to get a Western Diesel chip but it was for an automatic rig and mine is a standard. Is this a problem? What info do they need to reprogram?

Dealers who did that type of thing (reprogramming other brands) were doing so in violation of Superchips license agreement. They cracked down on that last February and if a dealer gets caught not only can they lose access to programs but they can be liable for damages. No, you can't use an automatic chip on a manual or visa versa. With a 1 bank module (like the Superchips) the code must match exactly or the truck won't even start.

Ken, when you get a chance....but is it possible for the tuner to "drop" or "forget" a portion of the programming? I returned mine to stock in order to tow heavy with it. When I returned reprogrammed it and the 1st to 2nd shifts felt a little softer than before returning to stock. When you step on it they firm up a bit, but still seem a little softer than before I reprogramed it back to stock...then back to performance. OR......am I just a little nutty.

No, its not possible. The EEPROMs are either programmed or they aren't. Plus there is a checksum calculated by the computer to make sure its programmed correctly.

Thanks, Ken. I guess the switching back and forth just threw off my "seat" dyno. I just wanted to ask the question though.
