Parking a Super Duty

Parking a Super Duty
I currently drive a 1984 F-150 ext.cab sb, and I'm about to put in an order for a new Ford. I'm having trouble deciding whether to order an F-150 or an F-250 SD. Either way I will get an ext. cab short bed 4x4 with an auto trans. and gas v8. I would have no hesitation getting the super-duty except for its lower mileage and larger size than the light duty. My question is - exactly how hard is it to park a super-duty ext. cab sb in an average-sized parking space?
Thanks for the input

Look at it this way, Your planning on getting a SuperCab, ShortBed. And you already drive SuperCab, Shortbed. Really there isn't much difference, between the two. The Superduty may be a tad longer. Of course the Superduty will be taller. And the steering will probably be taller. My suggestion...
Drive a Superduty And a Light-Duty!!!!

Parking a Super Duty
Hi there
I have the 250 SD diesel crew cab. I find I better be parking where there are not other cars ad You hae a buggar of a time getting it out of regualr spots. You don't have the pivot you need to get out in one reverse that you can normally and of course because it is the super duty you will have problem seeing the vehicles around you in order to get close as you can to prevent the back and forth. So you need to park at the end of the lot and you will get out easier. As for parking on the street if the spot if big enough it is not a problem - the mirrors are great - if adjusted properly... Pivot is a real issue though - you will really notice that - I went from one truck to another and noticed never mind the difference from car to this truck.

yes, the turning radius is horrible. i have
the exact configuration you're looking for--
in a normal parking lot (not those cramp mall ones
actually, i can't clear the height of most
anyways), if there's only a single space, i
definitely need to back in/out twice.
but also, it's easier to maneuver backing in,
since swing the head around better to straighten
the truck, as opposed going in head on since the
turning radius is bad.
also, i'd recommend the v10 with 4.3 axle ratio
limited slip and a superchip (www.superchips.com,
note: www.superchip.com is different co)

Hah! My wife has had to have a series of foot surgeries in the past year, so we've made a lot of trips to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto. Parking is a joke in a Super Duty crew cab in those tight, multi-level garages. Mine clears the roof by about 6 inches or less, some jackass in a BMW is always crowding the lines enough so I can't get in to a spot and it's so long it sticks out into the lane a bit. So why do I take it to the city when I have an economical (compared to a V10 SD) normal size car? First of all is the comfort, next is the room to carry all my wife's crap, and third is that I love the way all the SF bay area Prius owners look at me as if I were the sole cause of global warming. Trust me, you won't lose your Super Duty truck in a parking lot in San Francisco...
