I Have Ran my Cb wires but im not sure where to run the antenna wire so it gose to the bed. the Cb Radio is located on the pasenger side of the cup holder on my 99 Ford Ranger XLT... i would like any or all help that can be given to me
You can run the coax through the firewall, and then under the body, using zipties to secure it to the frame. I think I've seen someone mention that there is a rubber plug in the back of the passenger compartment too, but never seen it myself?
Should be some posts on here about finding a hole in the firewall. I believe you can squeeze it through a grommet near the hood release cable... Hope you figure it out
There are rubber grommets located either on the back of the cab, or on the bottom of the cab behind the seats (under the carpet of course). To locate these, it is easier to look from the underside of the truck. Use cable ties to secure the coax to the frame, or any other sturdy member. There is usually one on the driver side and one on the passenger side.
Yeah, like he said there are access holes in the bottom of the cab at the rear. Just pull out those rubber grommets and there you go. Fords are the easiest trucks in the world to put radios and stuff in. I love it.
Before you throw those grommets away. Cut the middle out of them and slip the coax through, and put them back in. You can use some type of silicone sealer to seal the grommet completly once it is installed. This will save wear on the coax, and keep the hole as watertight as possible. By the way, what kind of antenna did you get? I have toyed around with a few different ones and finally settled on dual glass mount antennas.
If you have a ext cab, pull up the carpet behind the driver, or pass seat. There is a small gomment under there thatyou can use. heres a pic of what it looks like from under the truck. Its right above the frame rail.
