It's not too complicated. You have one lead of the resistor that goes into the plug, and then have a short wire where the other lead of the resistor would go. I used some wire that is used for extension cord (2 wires molded together), soldered one of the wires to the short wire out of the plug andthe other wire to the loose end of the resistor. Then ran that wire through the firewall and soldered it to a switch in the cab. It works well for me, and I like having the control of the mod.
Good Luck!
The 10k helps the off idle performance (bottom end) the most. It also helps with turbo spool up which also helps the bottom end. I would say that 30 h/p and 100 ft.lb. is VERY optimistic even a little exagerated.
Since that is my webpage, I can tell you its not exagerated. Bone stock, my truck put down almost 200hp and 380lb/ft. About a month later I ran it again with the 10k mod installed and put down 230 and 480. I can dig up the dyno sheet, Its in this pile of papers on my desk somewhere.
The "edge" modules, and the SP Diesel kits are all just fancy versions of the 10k mod. The only thing you can modify with the ICP is injector pressure.
Once you modify it too much, you start to lose idle smoothness, and you can also lose top end power because the stock HPOP cant keep up with the demand.
That is the comment about little to no change chipped. You will not gain (most likely lose) top end power stacking the 10k mods with high HP chips.
You will however shift your toque curve a little lower stacking. This is based on other ppl's emails to me on their dyno runs with and without the mod.
96ford4X4 click on my name and go to the photos section of my homepage. The third photo down the left column is a pic of my MAP regulator. You can enlarge it and get the mfg. and part #. It is not the only regulator you could use, it just happened to be lying in my tool box. cost less then $20.
