Pro, I'm guessing that rear shaft takes a dump. Low gear with that extra HP is going to be a killer. Glad to hear she's up and running! You're going to run out of weak links at this rate!
Hah, I forgot about this thread. Ivan is the weiner! Err, I mean, winner. Wow, it really hurts to read that quote of mine, Ivan, really hurts man. But then again, I DID avoid really romping on it...for a month or so. Sigh, going out to the garage now to beat my head against the wall
Yea, I haven't been at a big event since january...missed the last two and then will miss the one this weekend. If I don't stop breaking stuff I'll need to get that "mall-rated" sticker for my truck
Oh, and nobody asked for carnage pics, although Ho did ask for a pic of my "sexy shaft" . I'll see about carnage pics when I go back out to get my truck.
pro, did you rebuild your Np435 yourself? Just curious if you did anything to your shifter? Was there any bushings to replace to stiffen it up? mine is a bit sloppy and its easy to miss a gear...
btw, how much HP do you think the NP435 will handle?
Must agree with you on the 435, got to be the most badass trans ever made. I feel so inferior riding in my friends hiboy with the 435 while I got the C6. Nice and heavy duty but you are right, they do suck up quite a bit of power. And yes, sticks do rule. If I had the resources now i'd convery mine over immediatly.
Well, I won't say that I didn't have help from my machinist/race car driver/mechanical genius/buddy but its actually pretty simple. The rebuild kit did have new shifter bushings. It shifts pretty tight now but its no toploader. We also took the torch to it and heated up the shifter arm to change its angle slightly for better throws. I don't recall ever really seeing a horsepower rating for an Np-435, but I've never heard or known of one breaking due to too much horse/torque. A fellow fte'er whom I've wheeled with (djoffroad) managed to break his input shaft on his, but he was airborn at the time. The shop that rebuild it thought it looked like a shock fracture from the landing. Besides, Dan breaks stuff way worse than I do
