Touchy throttle

I was pulling a few horses back home last night over a mountian pass on the freeway when my truck did something strange. I was in 4th gear about 31-3200 rpms pullin when my turbo whistle went away and the truck lost power. I backed off the throttle and got back into it and it came right back. Seemed like if I gave it too much pedal though it would happen again. Only happened at high rpms. Any Ideas if my throttle sensor is going bad or if maybe i was just hitting the govener and it was cutting back? Truck did'nt totaly die just seemed like the computer cut back the fuel. Thanks for any input.

power loss

fox,

sounds like you were hitting the gov. But was your truck blowing more smoke then normal? what color? Do you have a boost and pyrometer? What did they tell you? Such as did the boost gauge completely drop out? any stutter? what were your EGT's. What altitude were you at, higher then normal? These are some of the things I would use to help me determine the answer. I would first blame the rev limiter, second is more costly and that would be a failing turbo.

No gauges on the truck unfourtanatly. Maybe 8000 ft but I live around 6000ft. I've always noticed that my truck ran better if I dont put the pedal all the way down. No smoke that I notice but it was dark. The truck has never blown much smoke under load or acceleration. I don't think the turbo's bad, It just sounded like the truck cut the fuel back. And once I let the pedal up a little it came right back.

fuel

Fox

could also be water in the fuel. I cannot remember did you say you us a DFA? get some Diesel Kleen at the local truck stop and run it through there. also open your fuel water separator and drain it. Maybe even change the fuel filter. This could be a problem too. Also a pretty cheap fix and a good one too start with. Let me know I will think of others too based on your answers.

Try draining the fuel water separator the dfa may be working and you bowl is full of water, so when you put your foot in it the vaccum may be sucking in the water too? Just a thought.
