I've got a question? I have a 99 350 dually and whee tn I get on the throttle I get a chattering noise at high rpms and is like it cuts power out. I have a new clutch and had the transmission fixed. any ideas on this on what it could be? Also when the truck is a little cold I have a sticking air sound and lose all power at cruising speed. I can let of throttle and then mash it down and power is back until I hit the cruise speed again then same thing. Goes away when truck is really warm
The air noise is your Exhaust Back Pressure Valve doing what it's supposed to do. It helps to heat the engine quicker, but you do have subdued power until it drops out. Stomping on a cold diesel is not a good thing anyway, so the active EBPV shouldn't interfere with normal healthy operation. Having it work just means you get to the fun part sooner.
the engine noise comes and goes. only at a cruise speed will it cut power until either the rpms reach 2100 or you let off the pedal and they drop. Weird part is that I can run the truck for about 3 hours park for 20 to 30 min come back start up and it'll do it again.
