I have searched unsuccessfully for any information regarding this mod. Can someone tell me where to purchase the pop valve portion of the mod? I have all the other pieces lying around my garage but I can not seem to find a place that sells 16 to 20 PSI pop off valves for this type of application. Any guidance is appreciated.
Sorry about that. But yes I intended to go to the lowes website and the link would have taken you to the product but I forgot about the cookies thing. Anyway just go to the lowes website and type 221026 in the search field and enter your zip ( if it asks ) and it will take you to the product description for a Campbell Hausfeld IronForce Series 1/4" NPT Mini Regulator with Gauge
Item #: 221026 Model: IFA107 priced at $19.94. You can get them without the gauge but the guage makes it easier to set. I have mine set at 22psi.
You adjust the regulator with an air compressor before you install it on the truck.
This is not technically a performance mod (in the event someone isn't aware of it). It is only neccessary if you are getting an SES light from overboost.
Actually, you set the regulator to 22lbs with an air compressor. The MAP sensor will detect boost up to 22lbs but the regulator will not allow anything over this to make it to the sensor even though you might be producing more than 22lbs of boost. This has the affect of preventing the SES light from comming on and the PCM from defueling in an attempt to control boost. Since the PCM controls fuel delivery based on input from the MAP sensor, I prefer the regulator over the relief valve. The relief valve sold by dieselsite, is set up for 16lbs. Therefore you might not get full performance at boost levels of 16 - 25lbs ( 25lbs is when the PCM begins defueling ) and yes I have the 10k mod installed. BTW if you have a boost gauge you install either the regulator or the relief valve between the MAP sensor and your T for the boost gauge.
