I did the wrong thing last year by using ArmorAll tire cleaner. Now all my tires turn that brownish color. Are there any products that will bring back the blackness? They look pretty bad right now and they are all new tires. Anyone use 303 Protectant? If so, did it work? All info is appreciated. Thanks.
I hate all of the "tire Dressing" stuff. IMO the shinny black look does not hack it. Plus it spreads all over your rims and along the side and as you said they turn brown when they get warm. I use Westly's Wheel cleaner, it will make the tires a realistic black and it cleans all that brown off. Be careful, the stuff is pretty strong. Wet the tire and rim down first and then apply and scrub with a stiff brush. Hose off when done. DOn't let the stuff dry on your rims, it will streak. You will be suprised how nice the tires look and if you have raised white letters thwy will be white! I have used the stuff for years abd swear by it. I get many comments on how I got my tires so clean and the letters so bright.
Try getting some Eagle One's A2Z Tire and Wheel Cleaner. Spray that stuff on the tire while it is still wet. Then use a soft bristle brush and scrub the tire down. Rinse. That's what I use everytime I wash my truck and the tires are just like new...minus the scrapes on there.
I used Westley's and it turned my black tires to whitish-gray tires. I never used that again!!
I have used Westly's for about 10 years and 5 different vehicles and never had a problem exceot it is pretty stong stuff. I am always amazed when I use it because you can see the brown/road grim come off and they looked really black. The white letters always seem to come out looking like they were brand new. Friends have asked how I kept my tires looking new and once I told them they have been using it ever since. Was it the liquid stuff n a white bottle that smells like it has a lot of bleach in it? Not sure if they have other type products like a foam.
I have used it on Goodyear and Firestone AT tires for my trucks and Michlen for car. What I buy is a liquid and I get it at PEP boys here in Maryland but it is carried every where. It is about $6 for 32 or 44 ounzes, not expemsive and it as always worked great for me. I use it about once a month. Not sure why his turned grey. It has always worked great for me.
Wesley's works quite well. Also in a pinch I have used Spray Nine. Have seen the Mercahnts Tire in Frederick use it to clean off the coating on new tires.
One thing to remember with Wesley's is to spray it on the tire when it is dry. Works better that way.
Take a look at my gallery. You can't see it real clearly, but the BFG's were just cleaned with Wesley's and they are 3 years old. Had them with my prvious truck. Just had to get new wheels with the 04.
