There is one small item everyone seems to be overlooking when referring to page 48 of the Diesel Supplement. Try reading the paragraph above what is being referenced. What you all are quoting only refers to trucks OVER 10,000 lbs. GVWR. Therefore does NOT apply to F250's.
Mine is KR F250 Born 12/3/03, no blanket, no glove light. Bought blanket and pins for $67.12, mine had the front and rear seals. So far no problems, 7,850+ miles
Noise Emissions Warranty, Prohibited Tampering Acts and Maintenance.

When I had my 04 truck flashed last month for high altitude driving and other problem, I told them about the insulation missing from the hood, will they ordered it for me and installed it at no cost, they know that I tow a 5th wheel alot, and the heat from the turbo will blister the paint on the hood, and I guess Ford thinks it cheaper to install the insulation, then to paint the truck.

My truck is also missing the hood blanket but has the front/rear seals. Truck was purchased end of march. The salesman said it would most likely be "taken care of" but that hasn't been confirmed yet. No problems, 2200 miles and counting............
So this item is not mandatory for F250s, but will help dampen engine noise in the cab and prevent the engine from damaging the paint when towing? Or is the last part about the paint not confirmed. I would be ****ed if I spent $40k+ on a truck to tow and have the paint damaged. If it was damaged do you think it would be covered under warranty?

I was told this by the Body Shop Manager, He put it like this, on a hot day your pulling those long grades on I-81 in Virginia. Stop at one of those rest stop, open the hood and feel the heat at the turbo, then you will see why you need the insulation. I pull a 28 foot 5th wheel all over the country.

I am presently going through a exchange vehicle thru the DSB. I dropped off My April 2003 F-250 and picked up a Jan 2004 F-350 Lariat. At this point I have put about a thousand miles on The new truck, which still is not mine due to fords expiditious Paperwork system. The new truck still has pilot injection and is much quiter at idle. At highway speed the 2003 was much much quieter, I suspect this is due to the the hood blanket not being installed. I talked to the dealership, They said I could take the blanket and glove box light out of the old truck. I will keep you all posted Jerry.
