My 04 V-10 didn't come with a hood blanket. I just ordered the parts and was wondering if the part girl got it all right.

I can post my numbers here if anyone is interested.
When you find out it is correct, post away someone can and will use them

From page 48 of the diesel supplement:
Tampering with noise control system prohibited
Federal law prohibits the following acts or the causing thereof: (1) The
removal or rendering inoperative by any person other than for purposes
of maintenance, repair or replacement of any device or element of design
incorporated into any new vehicle for the purpose of noise control prior
to its sale or delivery to the ultimate purchaser or while it is in use, or
(2) the use of the vehicle after such device or element of design has
been removed or rendered inoperative by any person.
Among those acts which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency may
presume to constitute tampering are the acts listed below:
•Removal of hood blanket, fender apron absorbers, fender apron
barriers, underbody noise shields or acoustically absorptive material.

Unfortunately this is low noise to Ford and its over all issues of day to day operations.
You are correct.

Maybe this has been the case because the complainant did not do enough homework on the isssue. The homework has not been presented to us: note repeated below.

When challenging the responses from the dealership's/Ford's rep, while having this type of documentation, one would be hard pressed to continue to argue that Ford/the Dealership will not replace the missing item.

Just A Thought...............on...............My Perceptions................

Very impressive only five minutes, not necessarily expensive and easy to install.
Good for owners with out.
This item will come up again!

Hi Guys: Have been lurking here for a while, have learned a lot. Great site. Have a 2004 250 6.0L. c.c. Lariat 6sp. built Dec. 17/03.
Jackflach is correct when he says "Ford can do what it wants" I have contacted Fords "lack of customer service dept." in regard to the hood insulation blanket, and have been told that after surveys with customers and dealers they have been informed that the blanket is not wanted. They would not tell me the name of one customer or dealer that made this request. Sent a letter to Bill Ford but it was intercepted by " lack of customer service". I all so asked about pg. 48 in the manual re noise control and got no response, other than Ford can do what it wants. I asked about damage to the paint from lack of insulation and was told Ford would not contact me again on this subject. So far I am happy with my truck, I am concerned with Fords cost cutting methods and lack of interest in customer concerns after the sale. One thing that did become clear and prehaps I overlooked on the brochure was Ford Commercial Trucks "tough is just the beginning" at least I now know what it means. Have a great day.

Hood Blanket Is In

The dealership where I bought by truck about a month ago called me the other day and said all my parts were in. They will install it when I take it in for my first oil change.

I called them about a week after I brought my truck, and they said they would order one at their cost assuming the factory missed installing it during the build.

Question as we continue to discuss the hood blanket - will anyone tell us honestly if it helps to control noise inside the cab? Someone that has a mid year build date that came without and then installed one. I have a late January build without it, can't see spending the money if it doesn't help the noise inside or is this a temperature thing too? Enjoy waking the neighbors up at 6:00 so wouldn't want have it too quiet outside and have to slam the doors to get 'em out of bed.

I added the Hood Blanket myself to my 2004. Noise level went down slightly. The complete kit alos comes with 2 Weatherstrip seals. This helped right away with the dust that enters. I also wanted the heat deflected off the hood. save my paint.

Cost me about $100 and 5 min of work.
