I purchased a stripped 96 truck cab from a junk yard for the floors and rockers.
This cab has a large cast iron weight affixed to the backside of the cab by rubber grommets. Would anyone truthfully know the rationale behind this?
Thanks in advance!
The weighs act as a sound/ vibration damper for the cab. Since the cab is steel it will resonate at certain frequencies while driving and the weights help to keep it quiet.
Are you the original owner? Do you see the bolts where they may have been mounted at one time and now removed? My 96' has them. That's all I got other than your truck was built on a Friday afternoon after a liquid lunch!! Lol.
