Alright, I have decided that the manual swap will just have to wait until I have the funds. Now I have to decide between the AOD and the C6. I have the AOD now and I really like the OD. I think that the C6 is a lot stronger than the AOD but again, the OD. I am going to rebuild one or the other but I want some insight on this. I want the strength of the C6 but the gas mileage that I can get with the AOD. Any suggestions?
The only thing that sets me back about the E4OD is the computer for it. It would be nice but what does the E4OD actually need to control it? Does the normal EEC-IV module control it or does it have its own PCM? It is also a more expensive tranny to buy and to rebuild.

I'm not sure on the computer issue, but I would like to know about that too. If it takes a different computer, that throws a monkey into it. Yeah it is expensive, that's why I'm debating whether to do an E4OD swap or keep my C6 and go with an overdrive unit. The overdrive units are expensive, but the install looks pretty easy. Either way, the cost is going to be over 2 grand, probably more like 3...
You are telling me. I checked out the Gear Vendor unit too. It sounds like the way to go but once again, $$$$$!!! I hear ya there. So far I am leaning towards the AOD for a couple of reasons. First of all I have to make absolutley no modifications at all, which is nice. Second, I still have my OD. I thought about just building it up a little and then hopefully not have to worry about it again. But the reliabilty of the C6 would be great. See the dilema? Wish the money wasn't an option.
Yeah I mulled over the AOD option too for a while. Decided that since it never came in one ton trucks to begin with, it probably wasn't a good choice for my F350. I'm still really liking the C6/Gear Vendors idea, but that's going to be a ways off in the economic future.
If money were no object, I'd be driving a brand new PSD/Torqshift F550 4x4 Crew Cab XLT with all the options, a 10' pickup bed, custom made cabover camper and a load of aftermarket stuff too, pulling my old Bronco (built to the hilt) and a load of brand new dirtbikes and quads out to the desert... (It's nice to dream...)
I hear ya man. But as it so often seems, money is the option. I just wish that I could decide on what to do. I keep the TV cable in check all the time so that is not a problem. I just hope that the tranny will hold up for a while if I went with the AOD. Still not sure on what to do yet.
