Question AOD trans vs. C6 with O/D tail

I would really like to have overdrive in my truck now that I changed the rear gears to 3.89.

What are the pros and cons of AOD?
Will an AOD even mate up to a 460 motor?
Does anyone besides Gear Vendors make a C6 O/D tailpiece?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

A c-6 will go through hell and still work. I would stick with the c-6, nothing ever goes wrong with a c-6.

well use it if you wanna have plenty of trouble. a 460 would eat an aod right up. and you need to get a tv cable to carb conversion kit too. it is not worth it. od won't get you much more mileage anyway with a 460.

Get an aftermarket o/d tailshaft adapter. I think that would be your best bet. Those are the only non-electronic transmissions. The E4OD would be the only other tranny which would be tough enough, and they are all electronic. C-6 or if you want to feel like you own a dodge, put in a AOD. I bet would would not get 2 monthes before the AOD would be blown.

One problem....My little 300-6 keeps managing to grenade C6s. If I kill c6s, that AOD would get destroyed behind a 460, no questions asked. I say build up a C6 with the wideratio gearset (http://broaderperformance.com/page3.html) and add a GearVendors or US Gear unit to the rear.
