Yesterday afternoon I was on the way to the farm and I had to turn around at the creek bridge, cause it was all lit up with fire trucks, cops, an ambulance, and a couple of tow trucks.
Come to find out, one of the oldest landscapers around, had lost control of his '77 F-100 and went off the wooden railed bridge where it flipped upside down and he drowned. His trailer with his equipment jackknifed and never left the pavement.
I didn't know the man that well, but my uncle was the fireman who pulled him out. He had to swim around the other side of the truck, in water deeper than he was tall, where they had to use the jaws to pry the door open to get him out. My uncle didn't feel too well when he got to his house, when pop called him.
There's skid marks on the road where it looked like he was trying to avoid something (nobody knows what it was yet), and he lost control, busted through the wooden railings and went in to the creek upside down.
And I thought it was a thread about someone ****ing you off and you quitting a landscaping job or somehting.....well Sorry bout the loss man, hope someone gets the EVIL MUTANT SQUIRREL!!
sorry about the loss too.. at least it was kinda quick and hopefully the guy was unconsious so he didnt suffer.....
Tim some people make jokes about death and other unfortunate circumstances; its somewhat easier way to deal with it and sorta means "but there for the grace of God go I" not that i always think its always in good taste but i do understand where they come from.. i think that everyone does that kind of thing for some circumstance , and at the very least if they dont make the joke they laugh at it
That's really sad to hear. I drive a lot with my work. Sometimes 30 miles a day, sometimes 3-400 miles a day. Couple that with my motorcycle riding and there have been many times I have given thought to just how quickly we can lose our life. It happens many times, every day. It is always "the other guy" that we see, or hear about, that died in a crash. BUT, for that person, on that day, he was "the other guy". One minute driving along happy, daydreaming, thinking about what's for dinner, or where they are going fishing tomorrow afternoon, or whatever. Then, in an instant, there's an "UH OH!" and then it's over.
I drive by a cemetery every day on my way home from work, and many times I have thought "being dead sucks". As a Christian, my faith gives me hope for what comes after physical death. But, don't get me wrong, I LOVE LIFE, and thank God for every day I have.
The only thing certain in life is death. That's just the way it is. But it sure is sad when we know of someone who died what seems to us like an early/unfortunate/untimely death.
He had customers who will wait for him and he will never show up again. And, they will learn about what happened. That really is sad.

We had this happen to us several years back. The company I worked for at the time was having work done by a vendor that manufactured our Telephone system. I knew the tech pretty well. Every year that vendor has a "client appreciation party" where they rent out a club in NYC and their clients are invited, including our company. Anyways, we all went, including the technician (He was somewhere around my age.. in his 20's/30's). We all had a great time. He was supposed to be on our site the next day. 8am... 9am... 10am... no Anthony. We called our vendor to see where he was, sometimes emergencies come up and they have to service another client. Turns out he went home afterwards and never woke up, they had only found him an hour before. We were all quite shocked. Their employees took it pretty hard. It goes to show how short or fragile life can be.

I fully understand why people make jokes about death. There are plenty of other things in life to joke about. Some "items" should be off limit unless you are in a very controlled environment and knowing the audience that will read or hear the joke.............FTE is still a family site.
My comment was not based on the context…………it was on the media used. IMO
Appreciate sorry........you did not hurt anyones feelings her at FTE. This is not about me, it is about US.
My concern……and this is for all FTE members…..can you imagine how we “all” would feel if a family member, friend, next door neighbor, customer, a mechanic that new him, the sacker at a grocery store…... read what we sometimes post... in humor.
It would be a sad day for FTE.
Compassion is a 24/7 job.
Lets stay after the politicians and half time shows in the NFL, leave those who pass on in peace.
IMO
