I have a powerpack on my '96, and I love it. You can duplicate it and save a bunch of money, but at the time, I liked being able to open a box full of new parts that new was going to fit (and it did). I paid approx. $3200, and installed it myself, but a local shop told me they charge $1800 to do it (cripes). If your not going to tow/haul any heavy loads then the charge-air cooler might be overkill.

Thanks Rick
I would install it myself. How lonk did it take you? The heaviest thing i have to haul is a 30" pull behind travel trailer. My problem is I've never been in a truck with any mods to campare to my stock 96 F250. Knowing what you now know would you pay the $3200 again.

It took about three days out in my driveway (I don't have a garage) and I had to buy a few tools I hadn't anticipated, but the instructions were well detailed and all the parts fit perfectly. Would I do it again?, most likely, I really liked the convenience of one stop shopping, plus this is my daily driver and I needed to pull off the assy. in a reasonable time. If I had easy access to a good boneyard I might try to piece together but I had the money and really that was probably the deciding factor. Either way the pride in doing it yourelf is worth it. Today I was driving through a parking lot, and this guy looks at my truck, and then the BanksPower badges and says to his wife - "I want that", oh yea!

Yea you've got the cool points on up there.
How would you describe the power with and without a load.
Do your EGT's compare to what Banks claims.

Thanks for you input

The chip gives you what you need based on load requirements, so when you're just puttin' it drives like stock, but as you lay into it, it ratchets up accordingly. When I installed it, eight months ago, my first impression was that it drove more like a gasser, much faster acceleration through the gears (auto trans). I pull a 6000# travel trailer and the truck doesn't notice the difference and gives me 18 to 20 mpg to boot. My pyro is mounted post-turbo and Banks says back off at 1100 to 1200 degrees. I have not seen more than 1000 so far, and around town driving is 400 to 600 with a bump to 900 when passing cars on the freeway. I have a pyro probe mounted pre-turbo, but I have not mounted the second guage yet, and I'm curious to compare the readings.

Sorry for the slow return, my typing is hideously slow.

Thanks Rick
Keep me informed on any changes and or updates.
Everything sounds great so far except for the price.

Your return time was fine and well worth the wait.

Would like to find out if anyone knows about any other systems.
Thanx

If you do a search for DIY intercooler you will find a link for a site that details how to do an install of a retro cooler (99 and above) and will even sell you the tubes, hoses, and clamps I believe. I think the site is GTS Motorsports or some such. And you can find intercoolers at the boneyard and even on Ebay, but you would want a pressure test performed first or a guarantee. Glad to help. By the way, I drove a pickup (4x4 CC LB) with a Hypermax kit (same as powerpack but includes reworked injectors) and that truck was a rocket!, a real rubber burner.
