Well here I go again.... Last friday I had an engine stall while getting on the ramp to the expressway and lost all power. After almost taking a header into the guard rail I yanked the wheel so hard to not hit it and sat with my heart in my throat. So I pulled over and put the truck in park and it started right up for me. So I came home and read the board for reasons for this and found all I was looking for. So I in turn had my truck towed to the dealership the following morning. This was Friday A.M.. So they finally got to my truck later that afternoon and said it would take untill Monday to get the wire issue solved. So on Monday I call in the afternoon and they tell me they moved the wiring, but found several other problems. 1.) had a bad injector 2) the turbo was shot 3.) something to do with the air intake valve. 4.) It needed to be flashed. So here i sit and ask when the tubo will be in and they say no earlier than wednesday. THERE WAS 1 Huge PROBLEM. 17 inchs. of snow was on the way and after all my previous problems with this truck I could not afford to not have it to plow. So they told me I could take it on Tues. A.M. and it would still be ok to plow without the turbo. I was weary about this, but took it and worked it with the written permission of the service manager. I made it 27 straight hours of continuous plowing with no problem. So on wed. A.M. i dropped off the truck again, and did not get it back untill friday afternoon for the Turbo install. This truck is on my last nerve. I just received my DSB paperwork in the mail and will be filing it asap. What is going to go next????
11.725 miles and aveage use in between pitstops at the service center is about every 1200 miles.
Is the DSB the only avenue I can Take?
My 04 keeps dying on me. I almost had a head-on today. Tight winding two laner. Going down hill into an "S" turn and next thing I know .... no power steering. I almost got the car passing the other way. My wife was with me. She's not impressed with my skill at restarting while rolling. I guess I'm on my way back to the dealer for the third time tomorrow. The truck has died in traffic 5 times and it expired in my driveway once. They "repaired" the wiring harness once after it died with 416 miles on it and had to be hauled in by roll-back. Last time in they tried to convince me that it was a fuel problem. It's a loser. Almost time for a Mexican built Dodge. If I win the lotto I'll make a planter out of this truck and fill it with pansies.
I read this problem with the 6.0 all the time. People can say ford is the best, they'll fix it, its got the most potential. B.S. You can have 8 billion foot pounds of torque, but if its not gonna get you down the block without putting your life in jeopardy, who gives a crap? This is NOT normal behavior, and I pray I never come on here and read that someones died because they're psd died on them in traffic! I feel terrible for all you guys who are having these problems and hope they get fixed immedietly. FoMoCo should take a good look at themselves and the garbage they're feeding loyal customers.

I agree hole heartedly!!!!
I have an 03' 6.0 psd. This thing has been in the shop for a total of 33 day now and is in for the 2nd time of reving up @ red lights, trying to push me out into the intersection. They fixed it once with a reflash, which fixed it for a couple weeks and now it does it more sparadically now. Before it done it all the time, so you knew to be prepared when you stopped at a red light. BUT now it does it when ever! I am affraid to let my wife and new born baby take my truck to the grocery store or any where, cause this truck may go wack'o and push them out into on coming traffic @ a red light.
I have had 3 diesel's now. I wish i could have either one of my 7.3 back..
-GOT SNOW-
you should probably contact your attouerny general's office and they can tell about your states lemon laws also, and possible file a complaint against ford also. GOOD LUCK......
Got snow.... I agree with SBV45 !!!
I'm SURE NY has at least as powerful lemon law as Texas...
as SOON as my '02 7.3L truck hit the 30 days in the shop withn the first year...
I discussed it with the svc advisor (who I had been treating as a bud),,,
Even though MOST of the delays were the shops fault and not a problem with my truck... the 30 days still count !
He spoke to SVc Mgr who called the area rep and I got a call a bit later to offer me a replacment...
BUT, I had documented EVERYTHING - even discussions and had showed the Svc Mgr this... I'm sure this helped... and I think it helped that I took the approach of "What would YOU do if you were me?" and "This is a safety concern for my family?"
they knew I had a lemon law case and since they all knew I LIKED the Ex and would take a replacment...
I got it done and I am tickled pink with the '03 6.0L 4x4 Ex we have now !
It's not worth it to suffer with this and I wonder why you've allowed it to go on this long ?
If you're dealer doesn't help you, go up the chain...
Make sure you read what the serve advisor puts down. Even though I know there is no fix yet for the 4x4 turbo drone and the mileage decrease from the Oct flash. I have the service advisor put it down on the work sheet. I read the work sheet before I sign it. Read the invoice of what was done when you get it back. Document everything. Always be courteous. Even if you want to call them a moron, don't. Just point out the facts.
To follow-up what SBV45 said above, I'd strongly suggest that prior to leaving your home/office to take the truck in, simply write out/type out exactly what you want t say -- and have the service write key into the computer from your typed sheet exactly in your words. It's a contract your signing -- have them use your words. And of course, before taking the truck back after the work has been completed, read the responses made from the techs.

Filed my DSB paperwok last monday! Also I gave a Ford Cust. Service a call just to let them know what I was doing. The rep put me on hold and came back a short time later and said In thier computer they have seen I have called several times. She sounded a bit baffled and I think she knows I have a legitimate case. They really didnt want to hear what I had to say and ended the call abruptly. She didnt even know there was a DSB process in NY! So I had to explain that I had the paperwork sitting in frot of me and read it to her over the phone to prove it. I have been very professional up to this point and hope it works out. I told the lady I did not want a Chevy, Dodge or GMC....I WANT A FORD THAT RUNS!!! and justifies the $40,000 price tag. I will Keep you all updated through the process. If any one has any other suggestions please feel free to answer. It would greatly be appreciated.

We do understand (as much as one can, having not gone through it, but appreciate the frustrations) and do ask to be kept up t date.
As an important side note; In this mornings (Sunday 3/28/04) business section of the Los Angeles Times, is a front page, lengthy article titled Ford Stonewalls on Evidence, Judges Say by Myron Levin (Times Staff Writer). It is very, very, impressive piece of work. I'm trying to get a copy of it to post here. Although the article is lengthy, it cannot be overstressed over the importance of fully reading it. After reading it, one would have a clearer picture of just how "Ford", built Ford Tough, is sidelined by the very tactics applied by Ford in its dealings with others. For the reasons stressed in the article, one simply must be reminded that in dealing with Ford -- actually, it could be any corporation -- through their dealership's, simply be alert to the issue that the problems will fall back upon the manufacturer == and that is Ford.
In closing, getting a copy to post may take some time, but it will be worth the effort.
You all deserve it.....
Ok, I've posted the article over at the General Discussion site. As I mentioned, it is lengthy, but is so informative, well written, and addresses some points regarding one's dealings with Ford (as in Built Ford Tough) and their attitude towards their customers.
