I,m wondering if theres a way to eliminate/modify the steering coupling on my 76 F100 as the holes in it are worn so much that replacing the "rag" is useless. What would be the best way to fix this?
OK thanks, the further I go the worse it gets. When I got the joint disconnected I found that there is lots of play (3/4") or more in the shaft goin into the steering gearbox,so do I have to replace the box or can I get parts and rebuild it ?
Ok thanks for the help guys, maybe now that I know what to do I can get my old six banger fixed and on the road again without wandering all over the place,as is its kinda hard to keep it between the ditches! Its in pretty good shape besides that and a cracked exhaust manifold which I will replace next.....Glad I found some folks that likes Ford trucks as much as I do and dont mind sharing your knowledge. Great group!
