Does anyone know of an alternative to the rag coupling on the steering column. I had one of these come loose where it couples to the steering gear and was awfully lucky I didn't wreck!!! Is there a steering shaft assembly that elminates this coupling for a 1975 F100 at a reasonable price?

Is your truck 2WD or 4WD?
4WD's use a shaft & coupling assembly, 2WD's just use a coupler (rag joint).
The 2WD couplers are available from Ford, the 4WD shaft & coupling is obsolete.
Borgeson is the best way to go I used one in my 78 F250 that I lifted but that truck is now gone. The shafts extend out for body lifts and can be cut down as well. I think LMC offers a similar shft.
I was always under the impression that the rag joint was there as a safety device, to give in case of a front end accident, and keep the steering shaft from ventilating your chest. Not right?
The borgeson unit is a two piece. One slides into the other. My steering column is still a solid piece and would still probably kill me. Hopefully it would be quick. Ha
