I have a '93 bronco with a 5.8 and automatic transmission. Up until a few days ago, my push button transfer case was working fine. Now the dash light doesn't come on and teh transfer case won't shift. I pulled the electric motor off and was able to shift the case by hand so I don't think it is the transfer case. I took the motor to a shop that rebuilds things like this and they said the motor is fine. I know when the button is pressed, There is a clicking noise under the passenger side kick panel and also the shift motor on the transfer case also clicks but does not rotate. I believe there is a sensor inside the shift motor that senses what position the transfer case is in and I am thinking this might be the problem. If anyone has had experience with this please shed some light on my situation.
I am having the same problem with my 4 x4 push button.
I have a 93 f150 351w eaod trans with a 13-56 transfer case.
I happened to have the same situation as you have had, about
a month ago every thing was fine then the other day I tried to put the truck in to 4x4 and nothing happened. Same clicking sounds coming from the pass. side module, but I havn't gotten underneath the truck to listen to the shift mech. on the transfer case. I'll keep you posted if i get any info, and could you keep me posted if you find out anything more.
I just did this same repair to my 92 f150 with the 13-56 and e4od. the contact plate in the motor was crudy and the stop bumper was gone. replaced with 1/4 inch gas line and cleaned everything up and she works like new!! I don't have the link right now, but i got all the info to do this and save $600 on new part right from this site by searching the archives.
good luck.

But I havn't taken the motor off so I am a little lost on where the parts you have described are. You said something about archives? What would I be looking for as a topic? You have saved me alot of grief on replacing the part. Would you be able to send me more step by step info if you wouldn't mind.
search for a post titled 'fixing the transfer case'. it was by someone named Jeff. It gave me about 9 printed pages of info on fixing this motor. It gave me pin out diagrams and voltage specs to test and cal the motor and contacts so i could rebuild my motor and make it work like new. I did this repair about a month ago and found the info by searching this site quite heavily. my connection is puky tonight or i would post a link for you. you should be able to find it though. the contactor cover has security torx s20 bolts in them, i only had a s25 bit so i just cut slots in the three bolt heads with a cut off tool and used a straight bit screw driver on them. everything else was straight forward. Take the wiring connector apart and remove the wires to get the motor out and on the bench, take it apart and clean and repair the bumper, reassemble, and cal. the circuit and reinstall it and you will be in business. 3 hours tops.

what you guys experienced is the infamous motor corrosion problem. I had a 93 bronco that did the same thing. I however wasn't so lucky and ended up buying a new transfer case & motor. Ford knows about this problem and the dealership recommended that I place a bead of silicone over all seams of the motor to prevent moisture from entering it.
If you ever have problems again, a good hit from a hammer will knock the corrosion free and let you shift into 4x4 for awhile until it builds up again
btw, if anyone needs a borg-warner 1356 auto t-case that mates to a e4od tranny years 92-96, give me a holler. $100 for it with no shipping charged.
