**** and Button on instrument panel question?

I purchased a used 2001, PSD, F250, 4x4 and when I got it I noticed a **** and button just right of the steering column below the tach, does anyone know what these maybe? My father in law picked the truck up from the dealer for me so I was unable to ask them so any help would be appreciated. They don't look aftermarket so I 'm inclined to believe they may have been installed at the factory.

Some times guys will use a variable potentiometer instead of a resistor to do the 10k mod. This is a possibility, it lets you dial up more power on the fly. Try turning it while the engine is running and see if the idle gets choppy or see if there is two wires running to the ICP. Not sure about the button though.

Are you talking about the ESOF **** and the reverse sensor cutoff button?

My guess is that somebody built you an idle controller. If this is the case when you push the button and turn the **** to the right the idle will increase.
