Windshield washer

I've got a 91 F150 Custom. When I push in on the windshield wiper ****/button/switch, I don't get any mist. Anyone know how to check if this is the ****/button/switch or the pump? Wipers work fine when I turn the ****/button/switch. Thanks.

The washer pump is located in the bottom of the water tank. With atest light hooked to ground, probe the bright colored wire { } and have a helper push the switch with the key on,the light should come on.If not, there is a break in the wire from the switch as long as the switch is good and the fuse for the washer circuit is good also. Now connect the test light to battery positive and probe the dark wire{-},the light should light if the ground circuit is good.If both tests past, you can safely change the washer motor by removing the tank, prying the retainer ring out and wiggling the motor away from the tank.
