Overdrive lockout / Gearshift **** Snapped :(
I went to shift in to drive yesterday and the **** snapped I duct taped it this morning so that it wouldn't be dangling , but not sure what I'll have to replace and how I can atleast remove the end of the ****/switch ? I don't see any clips for the end button to disconnect the wiring from it . anyone have any ideas how this thing is put together and how to replace ??

Superglue! If you do a clean job, you'll never notice it.
If you really want to replace it, the button is all part of the shifter assembly. The wiring runs through the shaft and connects to the harness on the top of the steering column. The column cover comes off with a few screws under the bottom of the column.

The OD button on my F250 doesn't work anymore so I need to order this replacement.
I'll kill two birds with one stone too when I swap out the old one because I can do some preventive maintenance of the single wire on top of the column that commonly gets chaffed (causing a myriad of problems and blown fuses) on these Super Duty rigs.

I've got a shifter mechanism on the steering column I bought from an '01 Navigator for my Nav steering wheel. It's in great shape, but I'm not sure if it would work for you...Partsguyed's site isn't working for me at the moment. It looks completely identical, but the plugs may be different.

I was in the basement a few minutes ago and walked past the box with the column in it, so I pulled it out and pulled the lever off of it. It was surprisingly simple to disconnect.
After the electrical plug is disconnected, the soft rubber thing has a clip on the bottom that has to be pulled out of the hole it's in. Just push on the clip and pull up and it should come out. Then, it's just a simple pin holding the lever in, I got it out with just a simple, light tap and then pulled it out by hand.
Here are some pictures:
Removed from an '01 Navigator with 84k on it. While I haven't tested the button, the wires look fine and not cut or frayed anywhere.
If you or anyone is interested in it, send me a PM. I'm open to offers...
