What 5 speed can be used replaceing E40d
Just thinking ahead here. Got a 1991 7.3 with E4OD. 156,000 on the truck. Not sure if trans is orginal. Would like to change it out with a 5 speed when the trans dies. FOund a dead 1988 F250 heavy duty with about 65,000 on it. Frame broke, but it had a 302 gas in it. Would the trans be the same as a 7.3 would take? Isthe bell houseings the same. I know i woul dhave to get teh flywheel and clutch assy for a 7.3. The price is right. What all does one need to pull just so I donot miss something other then the pedal unit and lines to the slave. Cross member , both are 4x4. ANy ideas. Hope it works can't really pass up the trans if it works for 150

I am not sure, but as I remember the gas and diesel ZF 5 trannys are two different animals. The bell housing on the gasser is not big enough for the diesel. Also as I remember, the bell housing is part of the tranny case on the ZF.
