e4od fitment question
, 94 f-250 7.3 e4od 4x4. The trans only has reverse, no forward gears. I have been calling around getting prices on rebuilding, getting a reman with upgrades, and used. All a little more than I want to spend if I don't have to. I was going to put a c6 that came out of an 86 f-250 in it, but not sure about that idea still.
My question is, would a newer 95 and up e4od bolt in and have the same connector plugs for the electronics?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Bob.
the diesel 4wd c6 will work well for a yard truck or even for a truck you just put a couple thousand miles on per year.not much more in fuel when just talking driving a little bit.if you drive the truck and put some miles on,then the old dino trans becomes a very expensive trans to run, even if it's cheap or free.
the diesel 4wd '95 e40d will work with just swapping out the converter and the solenoid pack to to the older styles. (89-94 s-pack/4 stud idi diesel converter) bonus to the '95 spec is a much better build then pre-'95.
you can use the latter (renamed E40d) 4r100 if you do the above 2 things to it,along with 2 others; changing out the shift linkage and the pump to the older styles.
I ended up finding a 93 e4od with 99k for $500 that I will run until it dies on me. As long as it works Until then I'll have the current non working e4od rebuilt with everything upgraded and a new tc and ready for replacement.
