1999 F-250 Superduty 4x4. Problem: started out running fine , after 10 - 15 minutes when I hit passing gear on interstate would only go up to 3K RPM and sounded like it was missing. As I eased off pedal would get to -point wher all of a sudden it would jump up to 4k or 5K but never had enough power to pick up speed. By the time I had gone 30 miles was constantly losing speed and had to get off I95. Took it to dealer, changed out two injectors, flushed entire system. 2-300 miles doing it again. cleaned out tank and cleaned injectors again. Same result
Sure sounds like a fuel delivery problem...Why all the cleaning? any dirt? what kind? Symptoms point to clogged fuel filter or bad pump..Low flow causing problem at high flow demand..
The dealer had a code for the injectors cleaned them, replaced two.Flushed whole injector system. Second time around I had the tank pulled and cleaned. Guy said that there was something in there that had consistency of undercoating. Recleaned injectors. How do you clear the codes? Do they clear automaticlly if problem goes away? Is the dealership the only place to get the codes checked and do a diagnostic?
I'm wondering why we have fuel filters. They don't seem to catch much do they..
Disconnect battery turn on lights for a couple of mins to clear codes..
