Heads

What is the hole in the back of the head that has a tube bolting to it and the two from the different heads meet in the intake? The Heads are E5's
I am replacing them with GT40P form a 96 Explorer
The motor is an 87 HO 351w

The holes look like they are for Coolent or something like that
Can i block them off?
Do the Gt40p's Have them

The hole I think you are refering to is for the EGR system or for the air to be pumped in the back of the heads and I believe the GT-40P heads should have this as well and yes you can buy the plugs for this hole at the dealership.

That one I don't know off hand but I bet there wouldn't be much of a change.

Between 1/2 and 3/4 of a point. The GT40P has a 60 cc chamber and the E5 I think have a 69 cc chamber.

FYI: if you didn't already know you will have to have the head bolt holes drilled on the GT40P's to fit the Windsors 9/16 head bolts.

You might see a little improvement maybe. Are you doing anything else to the engine besides changing heads?
