Before I go out and buy one of these rubber front leveling kits for my bronco, i wanted to see if anyone has had good or bad results from them. How long do they last? I heard if you hit a small pothole they pop out and hold on for the ride Please let me know all the good and bad about them. I want to put it on a 88 bronco with big tires. How hard are they to put in? Comments please...
Are you talking about the Daystar poly bushing lifts? I have heard good and bad things about them. The good was that they were cheap. The bad was that they can break down relatively easy. I put a Rough Country leveling kit on my bronco, and I love it. It was only 120 or so off of ebay, plus some camber bushings, and of course an alignment. Mine used taller springs (which are far superior in my book to those poly bushings). They also maintained the same spring rate, so the ride didnt change.
The ones i'm talking about are round rubber boots (coil Boosters) taht go in between coils or below the spring. Pepboys and Autozone have them, They are only like 9.99 each, suposedly lift it 2 1/2 inches
Yeah, those are basically the same as the Daystars. Are the ones that you are looking at made from rubber, or polyurethane? If rubber, shy away from them immediately. The rubber cannot stand weather. The polys are better, but not bulletproof.
You do realize that you will have to realign even with these cheap ones right? Also, you probabaly wont be able to use youre stock shocks. You should add up the costs of the rubbers, shocks, and an alignment. Once you have that figure, throw it all away (since you said that you will put a diff lift kit on in a few months, which means new shocks and alignment). This doesnt make sense in my book. Where do you need more clearance? A simple way to gain a bit of clearance is to shim youre front bumper out. If this is only temporary, you should consider running youre stock tires if you still have them.
unfortunatly i only have the one normal size tire as a spare. it's a 31x10.5, I think for now i'll just get new tires to roll on till i get the lift done. Know anybody who wants to trade 36" swampers for 31's?
